Research Concern Intelligent and sustainable circular economy for a smart and prosperous nation, Indonesia National strategic issue: Sustainable development through balancing economic growth, social inclusion, and environmental conservation has become a national objective in Indonesia. However, achieving Sustainability Development Goal in the current and future digital age (4.0 industry era), is still challenging. The Indonesian government has committed to reduce emissions up to 29% through the reduction of waste by 70%, new and renewable energy, and materials development, and to reduce energy and material consumption. Intelligent and sustainable circular economy approaches are important keys to achieving local, national, and global sustainability in the 4.0 industry era. They will help in reducing the waste and energy consumption, waste, pollution, and emission; thus, they can aid in making the planet safer, cleaner, greener, and better for future Indonesian generation. Problem-solving: The current linear economy “take-make-discharge” system is leading to resource depletion and environmental degradation globally, which negatively affects economic, social, and environmental sustainability. Sifting from linear economy to circular economy approaches including reducing, reuse, recycling, refurbishing, remanufacturing, remodification, renew, waste to new material/energy transformation, and biotechnology offer credible, powerful, appropriate answers to solve the current and future sustainable development challenges. The use of ICT and IoT will help to provide sustainable and digital solutions for better economic, social, and environmental sustainability performance.   Current and future resarch development: 1. Intelligent and sustainable circular economy for smart cities 2. Integrated-eco-intelligent waste management, supply chain and extended producer responsibility 3. Renewable and recyclable resources for smart and sustainable materials, products and energy 4. Digitalization for waste, energy, resources supply chain management 5. Sustainable education and culture transformation for future sustainable generation 6. IOT for smart and sustainable city and village 7. Biotechnology – enabled solutions circular economy 8. Sustainable manufacturing, tourism, infrastructure, and agriculture

WORLD CLASS PROFESSOR 2020 Conducted by UNIMMA in collaboration with University of Southern Denmark (SDU) Universitas Muhammadiyah Magelang Southern Denmark University Yun Arifatul Fatimah, ST. MT. PhD Kannan – Professor Kannan Govindan   Improving the quality of reputable international scientific publications and patents is one of the main priorities of UNIMMA to world class university. The participation of UNIMMA in the World Class Professor 2020 aims to accelerate the publication of scientific and international patents, especially in the field of IoT-based waste management. Through collaboration with the University of Southern Denmark (SDU), in WCP 2019 program, some outstanding achievements were obtained, including 1) An article published in Journal Q1 – Journal of Cleaner Production, IF. 6,395; 2) DANIDA research final stage of the assessment; 3) International Conference – WCP professor as keynote speaker; 4) Workshop – writing articles for international publications (resulting in several articles published in international journals). Therefore, to improve the sustainability of cooperation, publications, research and academic activities between UNIMMA and SDU, the Faculty of Engineering has again granted with WCP 2020 with the title of “Acceleration of Publications and International Patents of IoT based Waste Management System through World Class Professor 2020 Program”. Research on Waste management using ICT and IoT has become one of UNIMMA leading research and included in the research road map. The WCP 2020 is expected to accelerate the publication and international patents of UNIMMA, as well as to increase international research cooperation, and number of international patents, and to contribute to the development of Indonesian science and technology globally. As part of the commitment between the UNIMMA – SDU, some interesting WCP outputs in 2020 are: 1) an article titled “Software Product Line Approach For Sustainable Circular Economy E-Business System” that is submitted to Journal of Cleaner Production (Q1 journal), 3) a patent draft “Internet of Things System of Integrated Waste Bank Management”, 4) Centre of Excellent of Sustainable and Smart Manufacturing and Circular Economy “, 5) international seminar series and 6) online visiting professor.
